Ginny Bryant; Commentary and Photos

This poem was written while watching out my daughter and son in law, Kathy and Danny Flynn's sun room window. The white caps looked exactly like you see on the ocean. They live on Cedar Road. Attached are pictures from their home on Cedar Road and also at our mobile home where Ginny (Glendola) and Bobby Bryant live at the Marina on Rens Rd.

Pictures of the water was on Cedar Road and the ones on dry land was at the Poquoson Marina. A huge refrigerator floated out of the boat house and ended up on the front steps of our mobile home.

I was three months old during the 1933 August Storm. They say this September Hurricane 2003 was not as bad so I cannot imagine what the 33 storm was like. We were very lucky at the Marina. Many of our neighbors lost everything.

Hurricane Isabel

I saw it from my window
The water rising high
As rain drops pelted all around
And white caps passed me by.

The wind was so ferocious
Snapping trees as power lines fell
A horror never seen before
A hurricane straight from hell.

Families left with nothing
Huddled in timeless prayer
Water lapping at their knees
Yet knowing God was there.

Destruction all around us
A sight for all to see
I thank God for the safety
Of our friends and family.

The Fire Rescue and Policemen
Were sent from God above
To help us and protect us
Whom we will forever love.
