ODELL CARMINES BOAT DONATED TO MUSEUM

George and Eva Firth recently donated a twenty foot boat built in Poquoson by Mr. Odell Carmines in the 1960's. The boat is in need of repair and will undergo an extensive restoration, after which the museum plans to put the boat on display. The hull of the boat has been fiberglassed. However, the wooden gunnels, trim and other wooden features on the boat will need replacing. Following repairs a coat of marine paint will be necessary to protect the boat from the weather.

At some point in time, the Firths sold the boat to Mr. Crosby Forrest and he used it for fishing. When Mr. Forrest passed away several years ago his wife Ann wanted to dispose of the boat so George and Eva bought it back. The Firth's decided to donate the boat to the museum to exhibit yet another piece of the history of Poquoson.

With the help of Mr. Bobby Wood and his tractor, the boat was successfully moved from the Firth's residence on Cedar Road to the Poquoson Museum.

Members of the museum wish to thank George and Eva for their donation of the boat to the museum and sometime in the future we invite them to come and see the boat following restoration.
