The Poquoson Museum is now open on the weekends for visitors to come and experience two galleries of history. Located at 968 Poquoson Avenue, the museum is open on Saturdays from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and Sundays from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

On August 26, 2007, museum president Diane Holloway and Poquoson Mayor Gordon Helsel officially opened the museum during the ribbon cutting ceremony. Entertainment at the event was provided by acoustic soloist "Brian Forrest" and the Bluegrass group "Made From Scratch".

The museum is featuring two exhibits at this time. A poquoson log canoe exhibit and over twenty of A. Aubrey Bodine's best Chesapeake Bay water craft images. Mr. Bodine was regarded as one of the finest pictorialists of the twentieth century. The Bodine exhibit will be on display until the end of December 2007. The Poquoson Log Canoe exhibit is permanent.

The Museum Gift Shop is now open and we have added some new items to our inventory in addition to our existing popular merchandises.

Entrance to the museum is at the rear door on the west side of the building and is handicap accessible. Handicap parking is available at the rear of the farm house.

If you would like more information about the museum, you may call the museum at 868-6830 during hours of operation or leave a message and a staff person will return your call.

There is no fee to visit the museum; however, a $5.00 donation for each non-member is greatly appreciated. Children 12 and under are admitted free with an adult. All museum members are admitted free.

The museum looks forward to your visit with us and we believe that all who visit the museum will enjoy the exhibits and great educational experience.
